Katie Sturm

Katie Sturm is from Atlanta, Georgia. She is currently a senior at Appalachian State University, majoring in Industrial Design concentrating in Furniture Design. Katie was awarded the American Home Furnishings Association Scholarship in spring of 2023. She was a Design and Build Intern for the Museum of Outdoor Arts in Denver Colorado in summer of 2023. Post graduation she will have a career in Public Art.

As a designer, I choose to work with intention and the user’s emotions in mind. I believe that good design is innovative, accessible to everyone, and environmentally conscious. I enjoy problem solving through form and materials in a highly creative atmosphere. My design choices are based on a personal interest in historic design periods and the use of natural
materials.
