Tanuvi Hegde

Tanuvi Hegde, an architect turned aspiring furniture designer, envisions a future where her creations not only enhance living spaces but also serve as a bridge between cultures.

Born in Bangalore, India, she discovered an early passion for spatial aesthetics, leading her to pursue a degree in Architecture in India. After years of practice in the field of architecture and interior design, she made a pivotal decision to transition into the realm of furniture design. This shift represents her commitment to exploring new avenues of creativity and a deep desire to engage with design on a more intimate and tactile level.

Currently enrolled as a furniture design student at Savannah College of Art and Design, Tanuvi is immersing herself in the world of form, function, and materiality. She brings a unique blend of architectural sensibility and an acute understanding of user experience to the realm of furniture, with the aim of creating pieces that seamlessly marry aesthetics with practicality.

Statement

Having spent years conceptualizing and visualizing designs on paper as an architect and interior designer, I sought a more intimate connection with my creations. Fueled by an innate desire to break free from the confines of a desk job, I discovered my true passion lay in the art of handcrafting furniture. The dance between wood and metal became a language I was eager to master, a symphony of textures, grains, and structural possibilities waiting to be explored. As I continue to explore the synergy between form and function, wood and metal, my work is a living record of my journey into the world of furniture design—a journey where each piece is not just a creation but a chapter in a story of passion, growth, and the pure delight of making.
