Jonathan Kannapell is a senior in Industrial Design concentrating in Furniture Design, Bachelor of Science, at Appalachian State University. Jonathan took first place in the DAVIS Furniture sponsored studio at ASU, honorable mention at IWF Design Emphasis commercial furniture category, and was awarded a grant from the American Home Furnishings Foundation. In 2023 he studied design abroad in Belgium where he sharpened his skills in digital design tools and physical prototyping.
StatementI believe that creativity is essential to human flourishing. My passion for design has helped me realize this, requiring engagement of my heart, soul, mind, and strength, what makes me human. I am inspired by the feelings I receive from experiencing the natural world, especially when in the mountains. I credit this inspiration to my pursuit of excellence in rock climbing, which has taught me a high level of attention to detail, commitment, and discipline.
