Stephen Rosini graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, concentrating in Woodworking / Furniture Design and Ceramics. His love for woodworking came from the influences of the craftsmen style that surrounded him growing up in Pennsylvania. Stephen works primarily with American hardwoods using both traditional and contemporary techniques. It wasn’t until a studio tour with Wendell Castle in college that changed the way he currently thinks about what furniture can be. He is a full time Furniture Designer / Furniture Maker working out of a shop in Salt Lake City, Utah.
StatementAs a furniture designer I tend to blur the lines of mid-century and contemporary design. I love the clean minimal aesthetic that each style possesses. I strive to combine thoughtful minimalistic lines that are sleek, but bold. Throughout all my work, I create a similar movement which draws your eye around the piece, playfulness is a key component to my design style. Most of the movement comes from hand-drawn curves that keep these lines organic yet refined. There are some parts of hand-drawn designs that allow each piece to stay organic without feeling machine made. It’s refreshing to be able to contribute high quality bespoke heirloom furniture into a world that is overfilled with mass-produced.
