Born in Brasilia, Brazil, in May 1993, the artist's early memories are woven with tales of the blue whale, spun by a loving grandmother while gently swaying in a dark blue hammock. These vivid narratives transported her to distant realms, each story connecting like episodes in a cherished mini-series. The nostalgia for those weekends and the longing for the comforting embrace of the hammock linger in her heart.
Childhood unfolded against the backdrop of sibling rivalry with an older brother, a bond that, despite its share of conflicts, held a deep reservoir of affection. Adventures marked her formative years — horseback riding, riverside camping, trail biking, early driving lessons, and encounters with nature's wonders. The landscape of her childhood became a canvas for vivid experiences.
The trajectory took a turn at the age of 8 with her parents' divorce, introducing a dual-household dynamic to her adventures. Despite not excelling academically, the artist discovered solace and expression in art and drawing. Her creations birthed a unique, abstract language, a departure from the conventional. Sporting endeavors overshadowed scholarly pursuits, and upon completing high school at Brasilia's American school, she ventured into the realm of civil engineering, earning her Bachelor's degree.
The transition from engineering to architecture unfolded swiftly. A brief stint at an architecture firm fueled her passion, as evidenced by her extensive collection of Italian design magazines and books. A shift to the hotel industry ensued, where her role as a financial consultant and designer/engineer invigorated her creative spirit. However, destiny beckoned again, and a serendipitous encounter with a friend led to a decision — a new chapter in interior design. Embracing the challenge, she excelled academically, realizing that interior design was her true calling.
Post-graduation, while completing a hotel remodeling project, a desire for mastery surfaced. With a passion for the arts, she faced the daunting choice of specialization. The decision crystallized—furniture design. The pursuit led her to SCAD, where her journey took flight. Guided by the philosophy of learning by doing, she confronted fears of failure, recognizing that true learning arises from overcoming mistakes. This ethos echoes her childhood adventures, where facing the unknown yielded the richest experiences.
Today, the artist seeks to leave a legacy that transcends time, a testament to her courage in confronting fears. Just as the little girl once immersed herself in the wonders of nature, the artist now immerses herself in the art of creating, embracing imperfections, and crafting pieces that echo her resilience and artistic evolution. Through her work, she aspires to inspire others to face their fears and embrace the transformative power of creativity.
Inspired by the creative pioneers preceding me, I am driven by the pursuit of crafting enduring masterpieces. Simple yet timeless designs serve as my muse, with influences from acclaimed artists like Nika Zupanc, Zaha Hadid, Jorge Zalszupin, Lina Bobardi, and Mies van der Rohe. Comfort is at the core of my artistic vision.
My creative process is adaptive, taking different forms for each piece. Sometimes, I dive headfirst into crafting, allowing the piece to organically shape itself. On other occasions, I engage in sketching and discussions on techniques before translating ideas into reality. I enjoy playing with recognizable designs like plants and toys, ensuring clarity in the viewer's understanding. My goal is to intertwine nostalgia and comfort, invoking cherished childhood memories.
Art, for me, is the transformative act of materializing thoughts into tangible forms. After years of aspiring to create on a grand scale, I now find myself capable of realizing this ambition. Through my work, I seek to blend the familiar with the enchanting, creating pieces that transcend time, resonating with the warmth of comfort and treasured memories.
